STEMVillage Summer Camp – Week 1, Day 5 Highlights

On the final day of STEMVillage Week 1, campers combined art, engineering, and critical thinking to finish the week with energy and creativity.

We kicked off the day with spin art, where students explored centripetal force using spinning platforms to create vivid patterns. This fun, colorful activity gave campers a hands-on way to see how circular motion impacts the distribution of paint—turning physics into artwork.

Next, students tackled shoebox mazes, applying problem-solving, spatial reasoning, and design skills to construct mazes that challenged their peers to solve them by sight and memory. Each maze was unique, and campers had to think critically about how to guide others through their designs, mimicking the process real-world engineers and UX designers use.

To close out the week, campers built drawing bots—small machines powered by motors that created abstract art using vibration and movement. This activity introduced them to the importance of structure, balance, and how even small changes in design can impact motion. It was the perfect blend of STEM and creativity to end the week on a high note.

Week 1 was packed with learning, leadership, and hands-on discovery. If your child loved it, we’d love to see them back for Week 2!
